Aitezaz, Who Is Sushil Trivedi? And Ashok?

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—Aitzaz Ahsan, a 'Pakistani' politician in the garb of a lawyer has started making mockery of the system. By demanding the restoration of deposed judges by an executive order, he has started showing signs of desperation.

His Indian friend, Ashok Chaturvedi, the Indian intelligence chief, is in hot water and Aitzaz has been tasked to show some results as soon as possible so that Ashok can continue as the chief of the Research and Analysis Wing, the Indian intelligence agency known as RAW.

After spending over U.S. $ 500 million since March 2007, when the lawyers’ movement started, the Pakistani political system could not be crippled. Aitzaz enjoys longstanding relations with the Indian establishment since the time he was the founding vice chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. He has retained that relationship and, as the Interior Minister of Pakistan in the 1990s, he had handed over a list of the names of Sikh separatists to the Indian government, which in turn eliminated those poor Sikh fighters.

In March2007 when Justice Iftikar Chaudhry was ousted as Chief Justice, Aitzaz was enstrusted with an initial tranche of U.S. $ 80 million which were handed to Asma Jehangir in London by RAW officer Sushil Trevidi in London at the Indian High Commission.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: For the record, Asma Jahangir, responsing to the accusation made by Majid Shah, send the following email on 22 March: "Where does this fairy tale come from. I do not know anyone by the name of Sushil. Such rubbish is disgusting and no one will believe it too. People have better sense-Asma Jahangir.]

Aitzaz Ahsan and Asma Jehangir were tasked to create anarchy in Pakistan and derail the democratic process and at the same time undermine the respect and honor of Pakistan's armed forces. At the same time create differences between Musharraf and the Bush administration. The amount which was spent for the separatist movement in Balochistan were also guaranteed for Aitzaz Ahsan.

The objectives were only partially achieved. Musharraf’s move to remove his uniform and the imposition of emergency foiled the designs and holding of elections further strengthened Musharraf's position. These developments unnerved the Indian intelligence and Ashok Chutervedi came under fire. Aitzaz has to make another desperate attempt otherwise his Indian connection will stop nourishing him. Lets wait and watch, who wins in this intelligence war.

A New Game Plan

Two Pakistani politicians, Shahbaz Sharif and Aitezaz Ahsan, the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, met in Lahore for one hour.

That meeting was one on one. Everybody knows it. But nobody knows what was actually discussed in that meeting. I am disclosing here details of a secret game plan.  You might  disapprove it for now but subsequent events would confirm the correctness of my assertion.

Shehbaz Sharif is a shrewd politician. I rate him much higher than his elder brother Nawaz Sharif. Shahbaz spent most of the time convincing Aitzaz Ahsan to take part in a by-election and become a member of the National Assembly. He was also advised to delay his announcement to join PML (Nawaz Group).

Aitzaz was initially reluctant on the premise that he had boycotted the elections expressing solidarity with the other political parties and the lawyers for the cause of restoring the judiciary. The conditions continue to be the same and the judges are unlikely to be restored in the future and his joining Parliament would weaken lawyers movement.

But Shehbaz finally prevailed and Aitzaz Ahsan agreed to take part in by-elections as a PPP candidate. They both agreed that PPP government would soon lose its mandate in the Parliament and PML will try to form the government in the federal capital. To counter this, Aitzaz Ahsan will form a forward bloc of dissidents and facilitate the formation of PML (Nawaz Group) government in Islamabad.

The other area where Aitzaz will be working in the Parliament aims at creating an environment where strong  differences crop up between PPP government and the Armed Forces. Anti-army campaign through the so-called civil society groups would be accelerated and in Parliament Aitzaz Ahsan will raise issues that reduce the influence of the military in decision making.

This Shahbaz-Aitezaz nexus will continue fooling the lawyers, retired judges, and all the political parties that boycotted the elections until he is elected in the by-election. The only way all these supporters of Aitzaz Ahsan can stop getting fooled is by stopping him from going back on his word that he would boycott the election.
